Purpose
The Brico Mechanical Shift-Down Tubing Release is an economical, simple design, effective and proven means of releasing TCP guns from the tubing string. This shift down tubing release utilizes the standard Model "B" shifting tool to activate and release the lower section of the tool. The only component remaining on the tubing end is the top sub which leaves a well tapered internal profile for wireline re-entry into the tubing.
Operation
The Brico mechanical shift-down tubung release is recommended for shallow well applications only. The tool is always placed below the seating nipple profile, below a packer or lower section of tubing above the TCP firing head. Once the TCPs guns have been fired, the tool is released by means of running a Model "B" shifting tool on slickline. Once the inner sleeve has been located, a jarring down action will shear off the 2 brass shear screws. Continued jarring down will shift the inner sleeve down allowing the collet to collapse. The shifting sleeve and lower sub assembly will drop to the well bore rat hole (cellar) leaving only the top sub. This top sub remaining on the tubing end acts as an excellent re-entry guide.
Note: This tool is a low pressure, shallow well bore designed tool and should not be run in deep high pressure well applications.
